Synplicity and Monterey Design Systems Ink OEM Agreement

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2002--Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, and Monterey Design Systems, a leading provider of physical design solutions, today announced they have signed an agreement granting Monterey Design OEM access to Synplicity's Synplify ASIC® synthesis software. Monterey Design intends to leverage the Synplify ASIC solution in its future products and expects the software, with its high-capacity MultiPoint(TM) synthesis technology, will deliver outstanding quality of results for large designs.

"Our relationship with Synplicity is a highly valued partnership to provide best-in-class solutions that solve critical deep-submicron SoC design issues," said Jacques Benkoski, president and CEO of Monterey Design Systems. "The MultiPoint synthesis technology within the Synplify ASIC software offers a superior combination of functionality, high capacity, performance and high quality of results. Our expanded agreement with Synplicity provides us with critical technology for pursuing our aggressive product roadmap."

In June 2001, Synplicity and Monterey Design established a close relationship to begin joint technology development. This OEM agreement builds on that relationship to enable Monterey Design to deliver new SoC design technologies.

"With innovative technology and partnerships with EDA and intellectual property vendors, Monterey has established a strong channel to the customer-owned-tooling market," said Bernie Aronson, president and CEO of Synplicity. "Quality of results, cost and ease of use are important characteristics for design tools in this market, and we believe our Synplify ASIC software is a natural match for Monterey's physical design solutions. In extending our strategic relationship with Monterey, we believe we are now poised to serve a significantly higher portion of the ASIC design market in the next decade."
